Below, you'll find some handy tips and information to prepare for our time together. If you have any questions or need clarifications, don't hesitate to reach out via email. I'm here to help every step of the way!

Families
So excited that you’ve booked your family session with me! I can’t wait to capture those real moments that make your family unique. Here’s a quick guide to help you get ready so we can make the most of our time together.
The big question, right? My advice is simple: Be comfy, but keep it cute. If you’re not feeling great in your outfit, it’ll show in the photos—especially with the kiddos. No need to match perfectly, but aim for colors that complement each other. Need some inspiration? Check out my Pinterest boards for ideas.
Or even better, head over to my Styling Guide on Style & Select with the code JB2023. You can style and shop all in one place.
What to Wear
Time & Location
Choosing the where and when is something we’ll decide together. I’ve got a few favorite spots that are absolutely beautiful, but if you’ve got a location that feels like “you,” I’m all in. For timing, we’re looking at either morning or late afternoon—midday sun isn’t our friend. If your kids are up for it, that golden hour right before sunset gives us some incredible light. If you’re worried about keeping the little ones up for an evening session, a late nap or some chill time beforehand can help keep everyone happy and relaxed.
What about the kids?
Kids will be kids, and that’s exactly what I love to capture! Whether they’re full of energy or feeling a little shy, we’ll go with the flow to make sure everyone has a good time. If they’re bouncing off the walls, we’ll embrace the playfulness with lots of movement and fun. If they’re feeling a bit reserved, we’ll keep things cozy and relaxed with snuggles and gentle encouragement. The most important thing is that they feel comfortable being themselves. If you’ve got any tricks or tips that work wonders with your little ones, I’m all ears! We’re here to make this a fun, stress-free experience for everyone.
Wrapping Up
You're now equipped with all you need to know for our time together. Should you have any lingering questions, don't hesitate to drop me an email. I'm eager to capture those authentic moments that make your family unique.
A quick note on timing: Given the unpredictability of traffic and parking, consider arriving 10-15 minutes early. That way, we'll make the most of our time together without feeling rushed.

Day of Session
When I walk into your home, I'll take a quick tour to scout the best spots for those essential family and sibling shots. We often gravitate toward the couch, master bed, and of course, the nursery. No need to go on a cleaning spree—real life is what we're capturing, after all. But let's turn up that thermostat! A cozy, warm space makes for a much happier baby, especially for those cute diaper-only shots.
Baby
Your newborn is already perfect—no need for any posed or unnatural settings here. A simple, snug-fitting onesie without graphics or words is all you'll need. We'll likely go for some skin-to-skin shots as well, so have a couple of your favorite swaddle blankets on hand. As for feeding, consider timing it about 15 minutes before I arrive. If you're looking to capture feeding moments, we'll nail those shots first. Baby sets the pace here; our goal is to capture this extraordinary chapter in your life as authentically as possible.
Siblings
I aim to get sibling shots done upfront since their interest can wane quickly. Rest assured, I have zero expectations and will never push them into anything they're not feeling. A little prep talk, letting them know a friend is coming over to snap some family photos, usually goes a long way.
Parents
Let's face it, new parenthood is a beautifully complex time. My goal isn't to gloss over the chaos, but to show you just how stunning this phase really is. Just be you—that's all you need to be.

Final Thoughts
Mom, you're up first! Pick an outfit that feels comfortable and build everyone else's look around that. A flowy garment can be great for your postpartum body, maybe with a light sweater or cardigan to layer. A neutral palette is always a safe bet. Need some inspo? I've got a Pinterest board just for that. Or even better, hit up my Styling Guide on Style & Select with the code JB2023. You can style and shop all in one place.
And remember, if you're stuck, I'm just an email away.
Navigating the newborn phase is a mixed bag of sleepless nights and awe-inspiring moments. It's a time you'll look back on and wonder how you ever lived before this tiny human came into your world. I'm thrilled to help you capture this fleeting chapter in a way that feels as real as it does magical. Remember, timing isn't set in stone; life with a newborn rarely is. But our session will be one less thing you have to worry about—it's all about capturing you, as you are, in this incredible moment of your lives.
Until our session, take it one diaper, one feeding, one cuddle at a time. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out!

Maternity
Pregnancy is a rollercoaster, full of ups, downs, and everything in between. Whether you're breezing through or counting down the days, one thing's for sure: you'll want to remember this unique chapter of life. Here's a quick rundown to prep you for your maternity session.
Your Session, Your Way
The focus is on you—capturing who you are, right here and now. No awkward poses, no gowns that make you feel like a mummy. Instead, we'll spotlight the authentic you, celebrating these moments before your family grows. Whether you're on baby #1 or #5, let's make some memories of what life looked like right before your newest addition arrives.
Location
Where do you feel most yourself? Let's pick a spot that vibes with you and your family. Got a special place in mind? I'm all ears! Otherwise, I've got plenty of spots that make for some darn good photo magic.
Who is included in this session?
This isn't just about mom-to-be; partners, kids, and even your fur babies are welcome. And no worries if your kiddos have energy for days—I've got a nanny's bag of tricks to keep them engaged.
What to Wear
As for the fashion angle, it's all about making you feel like the queen you are. Long dresses tend to be a go-to—they're comfy and great for those candid shots. If you're scratching your head about what to wear, don't stress.
